A VACANCY FOR A VOLUNTEER TREASURER AT THE CfSWP
Volunteer Treasurer needed!
The Centre is a small charity, with a core team of volunteers who carry out a variety of roles, including being trustees of the charity and helping to organise events in the regions. We currently have a vacancy for a Treasurer to join our board of Trustees.
The role The role of the Treasurer is to:
• Support other Board members in ensuring the Centre’s accounts are well-managed
• Draw up an annual budget and monitor progress against it
• Liaise with our Office Manager and Independent Examiner to ensure the annual accounts are prepared in a timely fashion and submitted to the Charity Commission
There are also some small practical tasks, e.g. approving payments to suppliers.
Skills and experience required You are not required to be a qualified accountant or bookkeeper. However, we do require someone who is confidently numerate and willing to learn a little about charity accounting. A background in social work is not required, but an interest in what we do is appreciated. We can provide an induction into our work and if you are new to being a charity trustee, we will help you to understand your role and responsibilities.
The time commitment Trustees meet in London 4 – 6 times a year. All travel expenses will be paid, and we endeavour to use conference calls to reduce travel when possible.
