From attachment to recognition for children in care

Mark Smith, Claire Cameron and Daniela Reimer – October 2017

We are delighted that the authors have agreed we may share this important paper that deals with the knotty issue of how we use attachment theory and introduces the theory of recognition. Recognition has considerable relevance for how we create and develop meaningful relationships with children in care but also with other users of social work. Many thanks to Mark, Claire and Daniela for their extremely useful perspectives and contribution to social work policy, theory and practice.

A Report from the Centre for Social Work Practice on Reflective Practice Group Models in Social Work

CfSWP – May 2015

One of CfSWP’s key commitments is to the development of reflective practice in the profession. To further this end CfSWP commissioned what appears to be the first review of reflective practice group models in the UK. We hope this will be of interest to colleagues in both Social Work and Social Care. We welcome approaches from others who are interested in developing their or their organisations practice in this area.
